Zapped with ESWT

My feet have given me problems since infancy but by now the tendons in my feet are degenerating. Over the past few years I’ve had saline injections into the tendons to destroy the blood vessels and nerve endings that grow into the swollen tendon in the hope that it would reduce the pain and enable me to walk a bit easier. It has helped a little but over the last three weeks I have been having ESWT treatment - Shock Wave therapy on both my Achilles’ tendons. The therapy works by delivering impulses of energy, targeted to specific damaged tissues within the abnormal tendon and increases the blood flow within the affected area, stimulating cell regeneration and healing. Whilst undergoing the treatment it is advised that you don’t take any anti-inflammatory drugs so it has been a rather challenging time to say the least as it is not just my heals with problems. I’ve received the treatment before in other areas and it does take a little bit of time before you see some improvement so I remain hopeful.
I am on day 67 of Asfotase Alfa today, The injections are still giving me the allergy but the size has lessened somewhat and the Benadryl antihistamine certainly helps with the itching to a degree. At the moment I am unable to say that I am feeling better on the medication but it is not going to be an instant cure it will take time. By all accounts it could be up to a year before I notice some improvement.
Christmas is nearly here and I am looking forward to spending time with my family and seeing the joy on the Grandchildren’s faces. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.
